The Moretz Family

Happy September! Henry and Emily are loving school, and we are so happy with their classes and teachers. We are still also very lucky to have our Nanny, Liz, who I continue to need on an almost daily basis.

The photos below were taken by Liz's friend who handmade the headbands and dolls seen. They were taken over the summer. These four were my favorite.

The is more of the typical goofy Emily we all know and love. She is really into shoes (may have inherited that gene from Mimi) - and not so into clothes. Luckily at our house there are no close-by neighbors to worry about...

First day of school! Photos are not in order...

This is how Henry generally feels about school for the first 5 minutes. Then he gets into it pretty well. He loves his teachers, Mrs. Wozniak and Mrs. Whitaker.

Emily has been ready for school since conception. Her hair barrette somehow was lost in between home and school. This is one of her best friends, Maddie. Her other best friend, Cindy, is also in their class. They are so cute together.

At home pics before we left for school. Before the barrette was lost forever...

My dad celebrated his 64th birthday this year. We were so happy to be a part of the celebration! And the kids were so happy to get cake.

I just love this photo of the Philpott cousins. Emily, Gennie, Cameron, and Henry this summer at Mimi and Bump's house.

Well, I took a little over a year off of this blogging thing. And now we're back. Since there is no way I can recap and post photos of the entire last year, I am going to start anew and try to stay a little more on top of things.

So the kids have grown some since May of 2009 (my last post). Henry turned 4 on May 1st, and Emily turned 2 on June 30th.

Here is Emily having an ice cream treat this summer on the porch. Thanks to John Moore and his fancy camera for this photo.

Henry has given up cars, trucks, and trains for weapons and Star Wars. He can't decide if he wants to be Anakin Skywalker or Darth Vader. Tough decision I guess for a four-year-old.

Here is Emily on her birthday. The balloons were all she cared about...

It's fun to play gypsy with Grandmama's junk jewelry.

As I said, he is into weapons. A lot.
Scary guy, I know.

The kids start school on Sept. 3rd. Emily will go 3 days a week, Henry five days a week from 9-12 at the Wilmington Island Presbyterian Preschool. I am glad to have them both at the same school for the next year at least. Not sure yet where H will go for kindergarten but I guess I have to make the decision soon.

William and I are well. Working hard, of course, but enjoying our groups here in Savannah.

Hope you are all well.

Here are some photos from the last few months...

Just before Easter we had a fun dinner party. Erin, Florence, Becky, our husbands, and all the kids came over. Unfortunately Henry was a little under the weather. Doesn't feel so well in the below photo:
Michael and Philip Slatinsky, Matthew Witkow, Anna and Sarah Suid, and Emily and Henry.
What a group! We had a blast despite the chaos.

Just the girls : me, Erin, Becky, Florence

Easter was wonderful. Henry really was into it due to the candy factor. I took the kids to Augusta to spend the holiday with the Moretz's and the Philpotts. Unfortunately William was off preparing for boards so he couldn't make it. Mary Moretz handmade Emily's dress!

Cousins!
Gennie and Cameron

Mimi and Bump and the kids

Why the frowny face? Maybe it's the frou-frou collar...

But Emily LOVES her dress!

Philpotts!

Dying the eggs.

Very carefully...

Henry's Easter party at school.

Very festive!

More egg dyin' with Daddy.

FRANCIE!

Henry turned 3 on May 1st. We had a great party (the week before due to call schedules) at Bouncing Angels. Lots of fun!

Never too early to foster a video game addiction.

So much energy, so little time.

Birthday Boy!

Grandmama, Aunt Mary, and Francie in their party clothes.

Here's my bouncing angel!

Emily is almost one - her birthday is June 30. She is FINALLY crawling, also standing but not pulling up yet or cruising. I am not worried as slowness runs in our family.
Her last stats show she is 97% for height, 86% for weight, and 95% for head circ.
Big and Beautiful!
She has about 4 teeth now and still a massive appetite.

We just finished a week-long vacation which included our 6-year wedding anniversary. My parents celebrated their 37th (!!) and Mary and Mark had their 9th.
We went up to N. Georgia the first part of the week. Here are some shots from a train trip from Bryson City. Henry LOVED it.

As did Emily.

But the train museum with the Thomas table was his FAVORITE.

On Saturday we went to an engagement party for John Moore and Ruth.
Here are the handsome fellas.

FRANCIE BEAR!

I am trying harder to dress Emily in more feminine apparel. I even bought her a hairbow.

But I think she is the cutest nekkid!

Happy Summer!

Happy Spring!
An update from the last few months...

We found some more wildlife around our house, most exciting is the alligator! William found this guy in mid-January - we tried to catch him but he swam away and hasn't been seen since. He was only 2 feet long or so. No mamas spotted... yet...

We went to visit Mimi and Bump a few times - the kids have so much fun on our visits! They are great travelers.

Henry looking quite dapper before church.

Emily continues to grow like a weed. At her six-month checkup, she was in the 97% for weight! She is proportionate, though - she's tall and has a big head, too! She is sitting up very well now, still not crawling, no teeth yet, but we expect that as Henry was a slow one with milestones. Emily is now almost 9 months old.

My practice had a party Jan 24th to introduce myselft and our other new associate, Jess Carter, to the medical community. The party was lovely - and William and I had a fun date night!

February was pretty uneventful. My birthday was the 7th - the BIG 33! We went to a wine tasting with some friends and had a really nice time. Unfortunately, I got sick a few days later and was sick pretty much the rest of the month. William and the kids also became sick at some point. But we made it through the month and are all well now!

March has been a better month. My mom and I took the kids down to Florida to visit my grandma. We had a blast - were there for 5 days, lots of sun and pool time. Henry is a little timid around the water but I suspect by the end of summer he will be a swimming like a fish.

My mom's cousin Joe and his wife Debbie were down the same time we were - it was great to catch up. Henry loved playing with them.

Here's Great Grandma Louise with her little darlings. She turns 80 this year! She is doing great - completely independent, sharp as a tack, still a great cook with the cleanest house in town.

St. Patrick's Day was as fun as ever. Here are the kids and grandpapa in their green.

Morning hair...

Happy Spring!!
